  How many years before you left did you realise it was not the truth?

  i was only in for 10 years.

  however, i never feel that i 100% believed it all, even at the point of baptism.. i think after the initial period of 'love' shown on the part of the brothers, i must have only been a baptised brother for about 4 years when i knew it was all wrong on so many different levels.. i remember a sister saying to me "once they have got you under the water, that's when you see the real way they treat you".

  it all changed after baptism.

  The Oracle

  For me the doubts began in 1995 when the core teaching regarding the generation was changed, but like a good JW I supressed those doubts.

  About 3 years ago the lightbulb started to shine through the fog.

  I am still in.

  I still serve as an elder.

  With each passing day I see more and more how the organization is destroying lives.

  I see how it is destroying good friends and family in different ways all around me.

  The little green ones and zeros are now crystal clear.

  I have been told that one person can't make a difference. I have been told that you can't change people's minds, so why not just leave?

  For now, my choice is to stay - but the mission is clear.

  Destroy the Matrix. Free minds.

  Gratitude

  tonite i've just really felt peace of mind.

  i was thinking of some of my so-called old best friends who will have nothing to do with me because i won't drone with them in the borg.

  it just feels so good to be away from them and the lame judgements regarding the music i listened to, the running commentary of every move i made because i was on my way to being successful, and anything above an uneducated janitor was a complete threat..

  International Conventions

  so i am sure you will be thrilled to know that the international conventions in 2009 will be held in mexico, hawaii, south america (but did not say where exactly), austria and germany with other possibles and kenya - nairobi.

  cost to europe is slated at 2500 dollars package but warned that other destinations will cost more.

  the main requirement read in the letterwas "make sure you have the finances".

  Don't forget the Bethel tours!

  Nothing like spending tens of thousands of dollars to fly to some exotic land and then spending all day walking around a factory, seeing an industrial sized kitchen! A dining room that can seat 500! Hey, there's a big map on the wall! Holy moly - they have books printed in a foreign language here! Whoa, lookit that - a big washing machine! A provision from Jah himself!

  And if you visit more than one country, you actually get to visit the Bethel branch in each country!

  I'm sorry, the excitement is getting to me, I have to stop now...

  i wasn't sure where to post my introduction but here i am!

  my name is melissa, i'm 29, a mother of 2 boys ages 9(10 in dec) and 14 months, i've been married to my dh for 10 years.. i was raised as a jw from the age of 4 and fell out of the religion around 18...almost went back at 19(went to a couple meetings).

  i was just looking for other ex jw's that can relate to me.

  I got a call from an elder, he wants to come visit tomorrow.........

  so what to do?????.

  he was a family friend for years.....i saw him in the supermarket a few months back and he stopped and chatted to me for a while.....he rang me today to see if he can call in the morning for a cuppa......he says he isnt coming to preach...... he is one of those likeable people..........but has had a heart attack shortly after i saw him in the supermarket......he says he is okay now.. so i cant really see the point...........he is older; in his 70's.......and i think whatever we talk about i dont want to be responsible for putting his health at risk by opposing his beliefs.. am i missing an opportunity or should i leave well alone?.

  just got back from the doctor and he was alarmed at my liver function test.

  he sent me for an ultrasound of my liver and i'm being tested for hep.. problem:.

  my drinking way too much is because i have a hard time dealing with wanting to leave the 'truth' but can't.

  Wise words from Sirona, Oompa, and Bluesbreaker!

  I hear what you are saying regarding the drink Sirona.... but I know that 5th can definitely work out even if he hasn't cut off the booze.

  And I know that he can cut off the booze at any time as he done so for stretches in the recent past.

  When he says he drinks more because he is worried about matters related to "the truth" he is correct.

  Some people need a crutch to get through tough times. For some it's chocolate. Others turn to masturbation. Others turn to booze. Others go for drugs.

  These kind of crutches are bad. Some are more damaging to your body than others, like booze, drugs and chocolates.

  The ultimate cure rests with eliminating the cause of the anxiety....however I agree 100% that if one of the crutches is starting to hurt you (ie booze) you must eliminate it.

  5th, is that where you are at? Should you eliminate booze for a while... 100%? It might be a good idea. I think the fruit juice idea has some merit.

  Keeping busy is also a big one for you.

  You are entering the prime of your life from so many perspectives...I feel that you are getting ready to take charge of your life and enter a beautiful new chapter....

  all you need to do is turn the page...
